Gramado
The region around Gramado was originally inhabited by Indian tribes and was later colonized by descendants of Azoreans, German and Italian immigrants. Its demographics are ethnically varied, with a strong German and Italian influence, which is especially reflected in its cuisine and urban and rural architecture. Gramado was also colonized, in smaller numbers, by Portuguese, Syrians and Lebanese. With an economy focused on tourism, the city annually receives millions of domestic and foreign tourists and visitors.
