Usually we do provide historical information about a property only at specific request of interested clients. In the case of the Toca do Mar its development history, however, is quite outstanding and represents an intrinsic part of the attractiveness of this marvelous jewel of the Ilha Grande.
- It was purchased in December of 2015, then named Cantao do Leao. Back at the time with horrible reviews, worse infrastructure. No online presence. The current owner, from California/US, performed a complete remodel and rebranding of the guesthouse. Google analytics: over 8,600 Toca do Mar searches for the month of July 2020. - Sunset tours: The sunset behind the mountains of Ilha Grande is spectacular. Local fishing is also great. Package a short, local boat tour for minimal fuel expense, catch fresh fish, return to the pousada to BBQ fish over coals, rice, beans, salad dinner for R$50 per person. Sell drinks on the boat while touring. Projected operating cost R$10 per person. Boat capacity 12.
- Food, Beverage and Merchandise: The owners operated the day to day business for the first two and a half years while welcoming their new born daughter and raising their then 4 year old son. Serving dinner and drinks was never a desire, though guests would consistently ask if it was served at the guesthouse. There is a clear demand for food and drinks.
- Dock reception / dining area: There is a small, 3 meter x 7 meter covered area near the dock that could be developed into additional dining, reception or bar seating.
