In 2010, São Paulo engineer Ziga Vogel, cousin of renowned architect Isay Weinfeld, who had been living in Paraty for a few years, decided to build a house to enjoy the sun and tropical climate of the city, with space for arts, cooling off in the jacuzzi or pool, or on colder days in the gas fireplace or steam sauna. He didn’t forget to include a space for the traditional Brazilian barbecue.

With a taste for rustic architecture, he planned and designed the house with the best components, such as beams and structural pillars made of treated eucalyptus and walls made of solid ceramic bricks, combined with large glass windows.

The roof over this robust but graceful combination is also made of Portuguese ceramic tiles, in the two front rooms it is exposed, and in the two suites the white ceiling parallel to the roof allows for light and space. What is surprising about the central room that gives access to the bedrooms and integrated kitchen is a domed roof made of translucent polycarbonate, creating a very bright environment that takes advantage of natural light.
